$44,600 Capital Grant through the Ontario Trillium (OTF) Foundation replaced critical equipment to support Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club’s operations

Ontario continues to support active living in Northumberland Peterborough-South with another expansion. On Saturday, members of the Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club celebrated the results of a $44,600 capital grant from the Ontario government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The provincial investment supported the construction of a new, larger equipment shed, ensuring the club can safely store lawn equipment, maintenance tools, and bowling supplies.

“Our government is proud to invest in organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation that help our communities stay active and connected,” said David Piccini, MPP, Northumberland Peterborough South. “The Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club is a valued community asset, and this project will help enhance their ability to provide recreation for residents of all ages”

The new shed replaces an aging shed that is critical to improving the overall club building safety and security of sport and maintenance equipment. The project also addresses the necessary aesthetic upgrades and ensures compliance with the heritage standards within Victoria Park in Cobourg.

“As a non-profit organization, the Ontario government grant has been instrumental in enabling The Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club to move forward with the construction of a new shed,” said Tammy Browes-Bugden, Executive Committee Director, Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club. “This strengthens our ability to continue delivering and growing our sport program for the community. Without this support, the cost of such an upgrade would be difficult to manage.”

The historic Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club was established in 1907 and has operated continuously in the same location within Cobourg’s Victoria Park. The Club offers an inexpensive sport for all ages, and is a diverse, active and social community. Lawn bowling is a light healthy exercise which can be enjoyed outdoors in beautiful Victoria Park.
