The hometown Port Hope Flyers are still chasing an Ontario Baseball Association Senior C championship as the tournament reaches its final day Sunday at Town Park.
The Flyers head into the semifinals Sunday morning, facing the Essex Yellow Jackets at 10:30 a.m. at the Town Park diamond.
Port Hope has been perfect through the first three games of the tournament, winning all three and putting themselves in a strong position heading into Sunday’s championship round.
The Flyers opened the tournament Friday evening with an 8-6 victory over Essex, getting their championship run off to a winning start.
They returned to the diamond Saturday and continued their winning ways, defeating the Clarington Cubs 6-4 before wrapping up the day with a 12-8 win over the Clarksburg Blues.
The three victories have the Flyers undefeated heading into Sunday’s semifinals.
Now, Port Hope will see a familiar opponent standing between them and a shot at the championship.
The Flyers will face Essex once again at 10:30 a.m., with a spot in the tournament final on the line.
With the championship being played on home turf, the Flyers will be looking to finish what they started and bring the OBA Senior C title to Port Hope.
