The Port Hope Flyers got off to a winning start Friday night as they opened the Ontario Baseball Association Senior C Provincial Championship on home turf.
The Flyers are hosting the provincial championship this weekend at Town Park, welcoming teams from across Ontario for the tournament.
Port Hope kicked off the championship Friday evening against the Essex Yellow Jackets and came away with an 8-6 victory in front of the home crowd.
The Flyers will be back on the diamond Saturday morning when they take on the Clarington Cubs.
First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Town Park.
With a win already under their belts, the Flyers will be looking to continue their strong start and make a run at a provincial championship on their home field.
The tournament continues throughout the weekend in Port Hope, with the championship game set for Sunday.
