If your heart is set on a real Christmas tree this year, a great chance to pick yours out – and at the same time support local health care – comes Saturday, Dec. 2, at the annual Spry Family Christmas event.
Brian and Sharron Wharram Spry host this holiday celebration each year in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation’s Light Up A Life campaign, to which they donate 100% of the proceeds.
It’s the ninth year in a row, Foundation Community Engagement and Events Specialist Megan Fluxgold noted in the announcement.
“Each year we are pleased to see both new and returning faces join us to hunt for their perfect tree and support our hospital,” Fluxgold said.
“In addition to offering a festive and fun opportunity for our community, this event has raised more than $143,000 over the past eight years – simply incredible!”
Doors will be open at the Spry Family Christmas Tree Farm (at 8329 Danforth Rd., just east of Burnham Street) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for your chance to pick (or cut down) your perfect trees – firs pried at $100 and all others at $70.
Santa will drop in from the North Pole for photos with attendees and – new this year – Mrs. Claus is coming along to enjoy the fun. Attendees can take a break for a complimentary chili lunch (with hot chocolate, coffee and treats) by the bonfire.
And even if you aren’t in the market for a live tree, you are welcome to attend and enjoy the festivities, with admission by donation.
Sponsors for this year’s event are Baker Tilly, Wharram Tree Service Ltd., Craft Food House, Ley Hall Wealth Management and Davey Tree Service. And all proceeds will support the Light Up A Life to raise funds for the purchase of an automatic tablet packager for the hospital pharmacy.
