Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged Following Stabbing (Name Released)

In Police Blotter

A 28-year-old Cobourg man has been charged following an aggravated assault investigation on Tuesday night.

On June 23, 2026, at approximately 10:35 p.m., police were called to a disturbance at a residential building in the area of King Street East and Cottesmore Avenue. Two individuals were engaged in a verbal dispute. Both declined to provide statements and left the area.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing outside the same residential building. Upon arrival, officers located the same individuals with injuries. One was suffering from an apparent stab wound, and the second was suffering from minor injuries. Both parties were transported to hospital, treated for their injuries, and subsequently released in good condition.

Through the investigation, police learned that the accused approached the victim outside the building, and a verbal dispute escalated to a physical altercation where the victim was stabbed. The knife used was recovered by police on scene.

As a result of the police investigation, Dylan Campbell (28) of Cobourg has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and fail to comply with a release order. The accused was held in for a show cause hearing.

The involved individuals were known to each other, and police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Anyone who has information related to this incident is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477) or visiting www.stopcrimehere.ca. Tips provided to Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
