High Water Still A Concern Along Shoreline in Cobourg

In Local, Weather

A trip to the lakeshore after a rainfall on Thursday evening on June 13, 2019 in Cobourg quickly shows the high water of Lake Ontario shows no signs of receding.

At times the water at the boat launch by the Cobourg Marina spills over into the parking lot.

Water has taken over the pathway from the boat launch to the centre pier in places.

Along the shoreline, large rocks aren’t able to contain the erosion that is happening.

At the fuel docks where many geese seem to be congregating around a plastic coyote that is supposed to keep them away, water is up onto the grass. Staff have created another level to stand on while fuelling boats.

Along Cobourg beach – it’s disappeared. Water is up to the wall. The only sand visible on Thursday evening was where the dredger had been dumping the sand.

A duck paddling along the wall of the beach seems to be the only one who is content with the water.
