Premier Ford Visits Cameco In Port Hope

In Local

Premier Doug Ford toured Cameco’s fuel fabrication facility in Port Hope on Thursday, June 13, 2019 along with Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini.

The facility is on Dorset Street East in Port Hope and it’s the first time a Premier has visited.

“It’s such a major employer,” said Piccini.

Cameco employs 363 people and is the only uranium conversion facility in Canada.

“Cameco is powering this province, it’s powering this country.”

“We’ve taken steps as a government to reduce red tape to ensure that we’re supporting major employers like Cameco.”

Piccini said for Ford to stop in and visit such a major employer it meant a lot to the workers.
