Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) is excited to welcome two new members to the Senior Leadership Team. Judy Fleming is the hospital’s new Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) and Kate Zimmerman was recently welcomed into the role of Vice President, Integrated Care and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE).

A registered nurse by training, Judy Fleming brings thirty years of hospital sector experience, including acute care clinical experience and a strong Clinical Informatics background.  She holds a Diploma in Nursing (Sir Stanford Fleming College), a Diploma in Public Health Nursing (University of Windsor), an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (Ryerson University), and a Master’s of Nursing: Leadership in Education and Health Policy (Ryerson University).

In her new role as NHH’s Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Judy will be focusing on aligning people, processes, and technology to support evidence-based information systems that enable the delivery of efficient and effective clinical care across the organization.  Her portfolio includes Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, and Decision Support.

“I am elated to step into the role of Chief Clinical Information Officer at NHH and continue building off the momentum of recent years,” said Judy Fleming, CCIO.  “The use of technology to support clinical practice offers many valuable opportunities to enhance the process of clinical care.  By utilizing available technology, we can continue to improve workflow and enhance the everyday experience for our clinical staff, and in turn, patient care across the organization.”

Kate Zimmerman brings a strong background in health care to NHH.  Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Ryerson University) and a Master’s degree in Health Studies (Athabasca University).  She is a Certified Health Executive (Canadian College of Health Leaders) and an Adjunct Lecturer with the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto.

As NHH’s Vice President, Integrated Care, Kate supports the many care pathways that are part of the patient-client experience.  She also serves as NHH’s Chief Nursing Executive, which supports all nursing operations throughout the hospital, including training opportunities, quality assurance, safety, and patient care standards.  Kate’s portfolio at NHH includes Acute Care, Post-Acute Specialty Services, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Cancer and Supportive Care, Dialysis, Maternal/Child Care, Pharmacy, Community Mental Health Services, Surgical Services, Ambulatory Care, Respiratory Therapy, and Professional Practice.

“I am joining NHH at a time when many care initiatives are expanding or starting across the organization, guided by a new Strategic Plan.  It’s exciting to join a team united in its focus on putting “People First,” including patient and caregiver partnership.  It’s an approach to care that is close to my heart.”

Both will be introduced at the October meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, October 6
