Local couple donate generously to Northumberland Food For Thought!
Grafton residents Garry and Susan Jewell have generously donated $23,882.85 to Northumberland Food For Thought (NFFT) in support of Student Nutrition Programs (SNP) across the county. One hundred percent of the funds will be used to help schools offset food costs for their programs.
Northumberland Food For Thought is the local non-profit planning partnership that supports Student Nutrition Programs in Northumberland County. These free, voluntary programs provide nutritious food to thousands of students every day.
“We are deeply thankful to Garry and Susan Jewell for their generosity and commitment to student health and well-being,” said Kimberly Leadbeater, Registered Dietitian with Lakelands Public Health and Chair of NFFT. “Their support helps us provide consistent, healthy food options for students and reinforces the important connection between nutrition and learning.”
“This is an amazing contribution, and I can’t overstate the impact it will have on Student Nutrition Programs in Northumberland County,” said Beth Kolisnyk, Regional SNP Coordinator for Student Nutrition Ontario Central East and NFFT Committee Member. “Community donations are essential to sustaining and growing these programs, especially at a time of rising food costs. We are incredibly grateful to Garry and Susan for their generosity, which will help ensure students in our community have the food they need to thrive at school.”
“We were so pleased to welcome Garry and Susan to our Student Nutrition Program at Grafton Public School,” added Mary Ellen French, Acting Principal at Grafton Public School. “Inviting them to see the program firsthand was our way of giving back and showing just how meaningful community support is to our school.”
Northumberland Food For Thought extends its heartfelt thanks to Garry and Susan Jewell for their support and dedication to the well-being of local children and families.
Along with the support of area residents, businesses, and groups, Student Nutrition Programs also receive funding from the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services through its lead agency, Peterborough Child & Family Centres (PCFC).
