Lacricia Turner brings extensive recreation leadership experience
The Town of Cobourg is pleased to announce the appointment of Lacricia Turner as the new Director of Community Services, effective Monday, November 24.
Ms. Turner is an experienced management leader with a diverse background in recreation and leisure. She has more than two decades of experience as a public sector professional, including serving in multiple roles with the City of Kingston, most recently as Director of Recreation and Leisure Services.
“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Turner to the Town of Cobourg as the Director of Community Services,” said Tracey Vaughan, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Cobourg. “We are excited to have Ms. Turner’s expertise as the Town continues to develop its new Parks and Recreation Master Plan.”
Ms. Turner has a comprehensive background spanning recreation programming, facility operations and maintenance, asset management, special events, parks and sports fields, community development, marinas, waterfront master planning, and building community partnerships.
She is well acquainted with Cobourg’s recreation offerings through time spent in the community and at the Cobourg Community Centre with her family, and she says she has always appreciated the facility, the friendly staff, and the welcoming community.
“I am truly honoured to step into the role of Community Services Director for the Town of Cobourg,” Ms. Turner said. “I’m eager to support and enhance the programs, spaces, and experiences that make Cobourg such a vibrant place to live and visit. I look forward to working closely with residents, staff, and community partners to build on the great work already underway and to help shape a welcoming, engaging future for everyone who calls Cobourg home.”
In her role, Ms. Turner will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Council, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force, and community volunteers to deliver innovative and consistent programs, facilities, and services that meet community needs.
(Today’s Northumberland reached out to the Town of Cobourg asking if Ms. Turner will reside in Cobourg or be commuting – as of Thursday afternoon we have not received a response)
