Northumberland OPP – Seeking Publics Assistance Regarding Serious Collision

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 401, west of County Road 30, in the Municipality of Brighton.

On September 2, 2024, shortly before 8:00 a.m., OPP responded to a collision on Highway 401 westbound involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Municipality of Brighton Fire Department also responded to the incident.

The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured however two occupants of the passenger vehicle were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening and life-altering injuries.

One westbound lane was closed with a complete closure of Highway 401 taking place at approximately 11:00 a.m., as OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) members attended to assist with the incident. The highway was fully re-opened at around 4:00 p.m . and the investigation is on-going.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision, and has not spoken to officers, to contact Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Occurrence Ref: E241173957
