Early Morning Fire Destroys Home in Brighton

A two storey home was destroyed by fire that engulfed the residence in Brighton.

Shortly before 5 am Brighton Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on County Road 2 just west of Brighton.

When crews arrived the two-storey wood frame home was engulfed in flames.

Cramahe Township Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene and Trent Hills Fire Department was put on stand-by for coverage in Brighton.

No one was inside the residence at the time but one person was taken to hospital to be assessed.

Northumberland OPP and Northumberland EMS were also on scene.

Officials are working to determine a cause, but the fire is not deemed suspicious.
