For the third year, Post Consumer Brands has helped out Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank in a huge way.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Post Consumer Brands presented the Food Bank with a cheque for

“Ingredients for Good” is a program by Post Consumer Brands which has been donating for the last three years to the Food Bank.

On Thursday, Post handed over a cheque for $3,000 along with over 2,500 pounds worth of food.

“It was really, really incredible,” said Operations Manager for Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank, Meghan Flindall.

Post staff asked what was needed at the Food Bank and got items such as produce, proteins, kids snacks, “all the things that are the most important items.”

“Neighbours like Post are really incredible because it’s not only events like this that happen one time a year. If we need something, if we know we are running low, whether that’s food or volunteer power, we know we can pick up the phone, we can call Post and we’ll have something here from them in moments.”

“And that is a partnership that we can’t put a value on – it’s incredible.”

Flindall said it’s been a “unparalleled year.”

“In the first three months we’ve had over 300 new neighbours – people who have never visited a Food Bank before.”

In 2022 the Food Bank only had approximately 230.

In 2023 there were 668 new people who used the services.

“So if we stay on the pace that we set, we’ll double that number this year.”
