Cobourg Advises Residents of Cold Temperatures for Friday Evening

The Town of Cobourg would like to inform residents of cold temperatures expected overnight tonight and into Saturday morning, with a low of -9 C (Feels like -16C ) overnight on Friday, February 17.

Residents are encouraged to seek protection from the cold. If outside, dress in layers and be sure to cover exposed skin. Exposure to these temperatures and wind may result in frostbite
or hypothermia.

Town of Cobourg Temporary Respite Locations

Those who need to get warm can visit one of the following locations:

• Victoria Hall, 55 King St W, Cobourg
o Friday, February 17: 8:30am – 8pm
o Saturday, February 18, 2023: 10am – 4pm
o Please note, Victoria Hall is Closed on Sunday, February 19 and Monday, February 20 for Family Day

• Police Station, 107 King St W, Cobourg will be open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week

• Library, 200 Ontario St, Cobourg will be open, Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm (Please note, the library will be closed on Monday February 20 for Family Day)

• Cobourg Community Centre 750 D’Arcy St, Cobourg 7am-11pm, 7 days a week.

Please note, early morning entrance is through the east side of the building (Back parking lot by the soccer fields)

Northumberland County provides overnight warming room services at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 240 College Street, Cobourg, where residents in need can take shelter from the
cold and access washrooms and light refreshments. These services are available seven days a week from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. until the end of March 2023.

During extreme weather events, residents are remined to visit neighbours, friends, and older family members to ensure their wellbeing.
