Update – Cobourg Police – Drug Arrests and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Warrant to Search

As part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting our community and the safety of our citizens, members of the Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch conducted two street level drug arrests of adult males.

Uniform Patrol, Forensic Identification Services, Cobourg Special Constables, and Peterborough Police Service K9 Unit assisted in the arrests and the subsequent execution of Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant to Search at an Albert Street address where an adult male and female were arrested.

The following people were arrested as part of this investigation:

Jamome WALKER, 24 years old of Brampton was arrested and charged with the following:
1. Fail to Comply with Release Order Contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Jaleel RITCHIE, 20 years old of Ajax was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine – contrary to section 5(2) of Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2. Possession of Property obtained by Crime under $5,000 – contrary to 354(1) of the Criminal Code

3. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited weapon – contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code

4. Carry Concealed Weapon – Contrary to Section 90(1) of the Criminal Code

5. Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose – contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code

 

Wallace Munro Jr., 28 years old of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Possession of a schedule 1 substance –Methamphetamine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2. Fail to Comply with Probation – contrary to section 733.1 of the Criminal Code

3. Fail to Comply with Probation – contrary to section 733.1 of the Criminal Code

 

Erin RUTHERFORD, 21 years old of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Possession of a schedule 1 substance –Fentanyl – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2. Fail to Comply with Recognizance-contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code

 

Drugs Seized:

.5 g of Crystal Methamphetamine

12.16 g of Cocaine

0.08 g of Fentanyl

Potential Street Value of $1300.00

An expandable “police style” baton and $1883.15 in cash was also seized.

In consultation with the Cobourg Crown Attorney’s office, based on the COVID-19 response, the accused were released on Undertakings with very strict conditions to a court date in June of 2020.
