Port Hope Police – Community Comes Through for Tammies Jammies

In Community, Local

Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples couldn’t contain her enthusiasm as she wrote the grand total for Tammies Jammies on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

A total of 425 pairs of pyjamas were packed into a police cruiser with the help of Special Constable Jeff Harmon and taken to the Highland Shores Children’s Aid.

Last year, the community donated nearly 300 sets, so with pandemic this year, it was hard to tell what would happen.

“Even one pair of jammies is still a success. It is such an amazing community.”

It’s the forth year of the event that Staples started with the police service.

Donations came from Port Hope and beyond that made the drive such a success.

“I’m smiling from ear to ear. We do live in a great community and people come to support each other.”

Staples said Christmas is special and, “everybody wants to wake up to a brand new pair of jammies.”

Port Hope bus driver Jerry Siebarth named to event “Tammies Jammies” which is quickly caught on.
