Cobourg Announces Bells of Peace on Armistice Centennial

In Editor Choice, Local

The Town of Cobourg would like to advise citizens that a town-wide bell tolling will take place on November 11 at the setting of the sun, to honour the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended the fighting in the First World War.
On November 11, at approximately 4:50 p.m. the Victoria Hall Bell Tower will toll one hundred times along with other community organizations including St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church and St. Peter’s Anglican Church.
The Bells of Peace initiative was developed by The Royal Canadian Legion, in partnership with the Government of Canada and is a collaborative program where citizens and organizations across the country are invited to toll bells in their communities on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at sun set.
When you hear the bells toll on November 11, take a moment to pause and remember all those who served and sacrificed.
