A flurry of activities are taking place throughout Cobourg as town staff are putting the magic in Christmas.

Manager of Culture, Events and Tourism, Jackie Chapman Davis, said “Christmas has now arrived in Cobourg.”

All departments are very busy putting that Christmas sparkle throughout the downtown.

Staff were busy on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 getting the foyer of Victoria Hall ready for the season, hanging garland and putting up and Christmas trees.

“All the decorations are full-steam ahead as we inch towards the Christmas Magic light up and then the Santa Claus Parade.”

Victoria Hall Volunteers donated two large Nutcrackers which are new this year and will be placed outside the front entrace of Victoria Hall.

Chapman Davis said the front of Victoria Hall look a bit different this year going for a “classic” look.

“It’s going to be a different experience, but really beautiful and really making downtown have that warm, toasty, vintage Cobourg feel.”

Parks Department staff are working in Victoria Park and Rotary Harbourfront Park putting the lights and decorations up.

Bundled up for the season workers were putting up the stars hanging from trees near the bandshell on Wednesday.

“It’s cold, but they are so dedicated and everybody loves Christmas Magic.”

The kick-off for Christmas Magic takes place at Victoria Hall and Rotary Harbourfront Park……….

All of the usual items at the front of Victoria Hall will be outside the Cobourg Library this year giving people an opportunity to visit various locations for family photos.

Chapman Davis said new this year, Cobourg is partnering with Northumberland Hills Hospital expanding Christmas Magic to their courtyard.

Hundreds of poinsettias are just about ready and will be distributed throughout downtown locations including a favourite spot at the Old Bailey Courtroom in Victoria Hall.

Town Horticulturalist Rick Cromlish is also the “Lead Elf” taking on various roles with the help of many others who will be delivering the poinsettias in early December.

Christmas Magic kicks off on Friday, November 21 starting at 4 p.m. with a Holiday Market at Rotary Harbourfront Park and the light-up ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. in front of Victoria Hall.

On Saturday, November 29 the CPKC Holiday Train will be stopping in Cobourg at noon by the Columbus Community Centre on Spencer Street with artists Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse playing.

Since debuting his self-titled album in 2020, Eagleson has amassed over 335 million global streams and 130 million YouTube views. His debut holds four Gold and two Platinum-certified singles and stands as the most globally streamed debut album by an internationally-signed country artist in history.

Eagleson has recently earned the title of 2025 Male Artist of the Year at the CCMA Awards, following wins for 2024 Album of the Year and 2023 Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.

Gayse is rapidly establishing herself as one of the most exciting new talents in Canadian country music. As an independent artist, she has achieved back-to-back Top 30 radio singles, including one that peaked at #21, while amassing over 10 million global streams and 48 million TikTok views.

The CPKC Holiday Train is in its 27th year for spreading cheer while collecting food and raising money for food insecurity.

Chapman Davis said there will be lots of things happening at the Columbus Community Centre prior to the arrival of the Holiday Train including a bbq and face painters.

At 6 p.m. the annual Santa Claus Parade takes over the downtown streets and be sure to bring your Santa letters.
