On Friday, August 28, 2026, Mayor Brian Ostrander and Town of Brighton, New York Supervisor Bill Moehle officially signed the Twinning Charter between the Municipality of Brighton and the Town of Brighton, New York. The signing ceremony was attended by members of Council and the public.
“Building strong international friendships at the local level is essential.” said Mayor Brian Ostrander. “Twinning with Brighton, New York allows us to honour our shared history and create real opportunities for cultural, civic, and community exchange. Even during times of broader cross-border tension, local leaders have a responsibility to foster kindness, goodwill, and mutual respect. I am proud to welcome Town Supervisor Bill Moehle to Brighton, Ontario, as we pave the way for a strong, connected future together.”
The Twinning Charter, previously approved by Council at its June 1 meeting, formally establishes a twinning relationship between the two municipalities.
