The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment is accepting applications from secondary school students for a paid Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Co-operative Education Program running from February to June 2027. Through this full-time co-op placement, students can earn high school credits while completing military training and serving in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve.
Training locations available are Belleville, Peterborough, and Cobourg. Participants are enrolled as Private Recruits (Non-Commissioned Members) and receive military pay while attending training. Training includes Basic Military Qualification (BMQ), Canadian Army Soldier First Qualification (CASFC), and Military Driver Qualifications.
Upon completion of the co-op program, students may continue military training during the summer and serve part-time with their local reserve unit. Reservists who continue serving may qualify for post-secondary education reimbursement of up to 75% of tuition costs with a maximum $7,500 per academic year and a lifetime maximum of $30,000.
Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, be at least 16 years old (parental consent required for applicants under 18). Applicants must also have completed grade 10 and have applied for a four credit co-op for their second semester.
All applicants also must meet all CAF medical and physical fitness standards. Deadline to apply is 14 October 2026.
The Army Reserve provides an excellent opportunity to make new connections, gain valuable leadership training and experience, work in unique environments, and develop transferable skills.
