In Police Blotter

On May 9, 2026, shortly after 11:50 p.m., officers responded to an alarm activation at a school in Campbellford. Police observed damage to an entry point and evidence the building had been entered, with items reported stolen. No suspects were located at the time.

Officers also attended a nearby school where graffiti was discovered on an exterior wall. A local Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) assisted with the investigation.

On May 10, 2026, around 2:00 a.m., OPP were informed that a portable toilet had been set on fire at a recreational park on Saskatoon Avenue. A description of the individuals believed to be responsible was provided to police.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., officers located and spoke with several youths in the area.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male from the Township of Cramahe and a 14-year-old male from the Municipality of Trent Hills were charged with:

Break and enter – commit indictable offence

Possession of break-in instruments

Mischief – destroys or damages property (three counts)

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June.
