The job posting is now up to recruit the Cobourg Police Service’s 14th Chief, Vice-Chair Sean Graham said at Tuesday’s Cobourg Police Services Board meeting.

Board Chair Adam Bureau reported that the recruitment committee had just met the day before.

“The job posting has gone live this morning, I believe at 8:30. We sent it to our media as well, and we are moving right along,” Bureau said.

Chie Paul VandeGraaf announced in December that he will be retiring in June after a 35-year career, leaving roughly four months remaining to find his replacement.

“I know time is of the essence, but I think we are going to make those timelines,” Bureau stated.

Board member Dean Pepper wondered to what media Bureau had sent the notice, and he clarified it was to the Cobourg Police Service media.

But the posting has also been sent to a number of organizations, including the provincial and national Association of Police Chiefs, the provincial and national Association of Police Service Boards, the First Nations Chief of Police Associations and the Indigenous Police Chiefs Association.
