Expanded Weekend Hours for Warming Room Continue in Response to Extreme Cold

In Local

With continued extreme cold forecast for this weekend, Northumberland County, in collaboration with the Town of Cobourg By-law Services, will once again be extending the operating hours of the overnight Warming Room located at 555 Courthouse Road in Cobourg.

The Warming Room will operate continuously from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, providing residents in need with uninterrupted access to a warm, safe indoor space throughout the weekend. This warming space offers rest areas, washrooms, and light refreshments to support visitor safety and well-being.

Lakelands Public Health has issued a Cold Warning for Northumberland County for this weekend, with low temperatures and significant wind chill values possible.

Northumberland County continues to take proactive steps to ensure individuals have access to warmth and essential support during this period of dangerous cold. The County’s priority remains safeguarding the health, safety, and dignity of residents experiencing homelessness.
