Members of the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), arrested an individual on an outstanding warrant related to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle that left an OPP cruiser damaged.
On Tuesday December 2, 2025, at approximately 1:00am, officers from the Peterborough County OPP observed a vehicle believed to be being operated by an individual known to be Prohibited from doing so. The vehicle, a cube style van, made its way to Hilliard Street in Peterborough where officers attempted to block the vehicle from proceeding. The vehicle failed to stop, making contact with a fully marked OPP cruiser and then fled the area. An officer was able to identify the driver, and a warrant was issued for their arrest.
On Wednesday December 17, 2025, officers located the individual at an address in Peterborough City where they were arrested and returned to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
Jason ARCAND (age 53) of Bridgenorth, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Flight from peace officer
• Dangerous operation
• Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
• Assault a Peace Officer with a weapon
• Fail to comply with Probation Order
The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
