A 48-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges as a result of a sexual assault investigation.
On December 30, 2025, members of the Cobourg Police Service commenced an investigation into allegations that a man had committed sexual offences against a young person.
Investigators were granted an arrest warrant for the male and on Friday, January 30, 2026, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau, with the assistance of Uniform Patrol members, located the man in the area of William Street and University Avenue West in Cobourg.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Sexual Exploitation, and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.
Cobourg Police Service reminds everyone that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
Police on patrol arrested two individuals on warrants on Friday.
On January 30, 2026, at approximately 9:50 a.m., police on patrol observed a man wanted on an outstanding warrant entering a building on King Street West. The 59-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with two counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order. The accused was held for a Show Cause Hearing and was later released on a release order.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the accused has been arrested six times with 13 criminal charges. In total, police have had 39 interactions with the accused in the past year.
Later that day, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers on general patrol observed a 34‑year‑old Cobourg woman outside a building on King Street West, who was wanted for failing to appear for fingerprints. She was held in custody for a Show Cause Hearing and subsequently released on a release order.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the accused has been arrested 12 times with 25 criminal charges. In total, police have had 62 interactions with the accused in the past year.
A 34-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges following a traffic stop on Friday.
On Friday January 30, 2026 at approximately 11:45 p.m., police conducting speed enforcement in the area of Division Street and Elgin Street West in Cobourg initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for speeding. Police observed a female passenger who the driver was on conditions not to be with, and learned that the driver’s licence was currently suspended. As a result of the police investigation, a 34-year-old Cobourg man was charged with speeding, driving while suspended, and failing to comply with an undertaking. The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing and was subsequently released. The motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The Cobourg Police service notes that since January 11, 2026, this is the third instance in which this man has been charged for driving with a suspended licence.
A 52-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after a homeowner reported mischief.
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m., police were called to a residence in the area of Cottesmore Avenue and University Avenue in Cobourg after the homeowners found an unknown person living in a vacant structure on their property. There was evidence that someone had been living, leaving garbage and human waste that caused damage. When approached by the homeowner, the individual fled the area.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Cobourg man was located and charged with mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. He was released on an undertaking with a future court date and transported to another jurisdiction to address outstanding warrants with another police service.
Two individuals were arrested on Saturday in separate warrant‑related incidents in the downtown core.
On January 31, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., while on general patrol, police observed a 42‑year‑old woman exiting a downtown café. Officers were aware she was wanted on four outstanding warrants, including a bench warrant and multiple warrants. The accused was arrested, held for bail, and subsequently released or remanded into custody.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the accused has been arrested nine times with nine criminal charges. In total, police have had 21 interactions with the accused in the past year.
Later, at approximately 1:35 p.m., police observed a 50‑year‑old Cobourg man walking downtown and confirmed that he was wanted on an endorsed warrant for failing to appear in court. He was arrested and released on an Undertaking.

Two Cobourg residents were arrested after police responded to a disturbance early Sunday morning.
On Sunday, February 1, 2026, at approximately 4:40 a.m., police responded to a property in the area of Courthouse Road and Elgin Street West for a report of a disturbance.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Cobourg woman wanted on outstanding warrants with the Cobourg police service was in breach of a release and probation order, and was arrested and charged with three counts of fail to comply with release order, four counts of fail to comply with probation, and two counts of fail to attend court. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

A 34‑year‑old man was arrested after fleeing from officers during a patrol on Sunday.
On Sunday, February 1, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police on general patrol in the area of University Avenue West and Spring Street observed a man who fled into the backyard of a nearby residence by climbing a fence; officers pursued and detained him for trespassing. He provided multiple false names and was subsequently arrested for Obstruct Police. During a search incident to arrest, officers located a small quantity of fentanyl and several bank cards not belonging to him. Further investigation confirmed he was bound by conditions prohibiting possession of financial cards not in his name.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old man was charged with entering premises when entry is prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act, obstructing police, failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with a probation order, and possession of a Schedule I substance. He was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
A 46-year-old Cobourg man is facing drug trafficking charges after police responded to a report of assault on Sunday night.
On February 1, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., police responded to a report that a man was threatening someone known to them with a screwdriver at a residence in the area of Division Street and Chapel Street in Cobourg. A suspect matching the description provided was located on Division Street in Cobourg.
As a result of the police investigation, Jamie Ross (46) of Cobourg was arrested. Upon arrest, police located a quantity of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine, Crack Cocaine and Cocaine, material consistent with packaging illicit substances, a digital scale, and a cell phone.
The accused was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, failure to comply with a probation order, three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (Crystal Methamphetamine, Crack Cocaine, and Cocaine), and possession of property obtained by crime. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the accused has been arrested three times with 16 criminal charges. In total, police have had 18 interactions with the accused in the past year.
