Northumberland Hills Hospital MRI Magnet Successfully Removed

In Local

Northumberland Hills Hospital’s MRI magnet was successfully removed from its home in the MRI suite yesterday, October 1, with the help of a large crane shown.

Also removed was a large rooftop chiller, which is required to keep the magnet cool.

This was a very key piece of progress in our work to upgrade this essential piece of diagnostic imaging equipment.

The hospital continues to provide MRI from a temporary external location in the trailer located outside of our Emergency Department and our team is looking forward to receiving the new equipment this fall.

Renovations and set up will be required and we are currently preparing for activation of the new MRI unit early in the new year.

NHH thanks everyone on our team for the support through this major upgrade and our community for supporting the fundraising, through the NHH Foundation, which is critical to ensuring capital equipment such as this remains state of the art.
