Update – Northumberland County Says No Medical Equipment Taken from Stolen Ambulance

In Local, Police Blotter

Northumberland County stated there was no medical equipment taken after an ambulance was stolen in Colborne late Sunday evening.

On August 17, 2025 at approximately 11:40 p.m. Northumberland OPP responded to Colborne after an ambulance was stolen while on a call.

The ambulance was recovered approximately one kilometre from where it was taken.  The ambulance was located in the ditch on Ontario Street in Colborne.

Northumberland County issued a released to Today’s Northumberland stating, “fortunately, there was no damage to the vehicle, and access appears to have been limited to the driver’s cabin, with no entry to the patient care area or medical equipment. A spare ambulance was activated to ensure no interruption to emergency response, and the recovered vehicle has since been returned to service.

Northumberland Paramedics are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness; while this call did not require patient transport, such an incident could have placed lives at risk. We are working closely with the Northumberland OPP on this matter.”
