The 31st annual Ganaraksa Railway Modellers Model Railway Show takes place this weekend at the Town Park Recreation Centre in Port Hope.

Kevin Jansen who is President of the Ganaraksa Railway Modellers said it was a great turnout on Saturday at the show.

“We’ve got more displays than we’ve ever had and it’s working out pretty well,” said Jansen.

Since the Town Park Recreation Centre expanded it’s given the opportunity for more displays in the facility.

Clubs from Lindsay, Belleville, Brighton, Oshawa and more are taking part in the event which also runs on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 62 McCaul Street in Port Hope.

The most popular scale are N and HO scale, but they also have T scale which is the world’s smallest scale for model railway.

With technology advancing, Jansen said model railroading is a “whole lot of hobbies wrapped up into one.”

“It’s artistry, it’s construction, it’s electrical, even programming.”

The Ganaraska Model Railway Club has members as young as 10-years-old ranging up to their late eighties.
