Peterborough County OPP – Possible Drowning at Burleigh Falls

Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with EMS and Fire responded to a possible drowning at Burleigh Falls in Stony Lake.

On Sunday August 3, 2025, just prior to 5:00pm, Peterborough County Officers were dispatched to a report of two individuals that had gone missing in the water at Burleigh Falls. The individuals were reported to have been swimming in the area when one individual fell in and appeared to be in distress. Others entered the water to assist resulting in two individuals being reported as missing.

Officers along with Fire Rescue attended and conducted a search of the water as well as the surrounding are a. First Responders are continuing with the search today and we ask that you remain away from the area to allow those properly trained to conduct a thorough search.
