Video – Missing Paddle Boarder Found Safe Along Cobourg Shoreline

In Local, Police Blotter

A large emergency response was initiated after a paddle boarder went missing in Cobourg on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Two friends went out on paddle boards from Victoria Beach in Cobourg for an afternoon on the waters of Lake Ontario.

As winds picked up, the pair of paddle boarders were pushed south east out onto Lake Ontario.

While the one person safely made it back to shore, the other went east around the point out of sight.

Just after 7 p.m. members of the Canadian Coast Guard based in Cobourg were called to search for the woman. At approximately 8 p.m., Northumberland OPP, Cobourg Fire Department and Cobourg Police also responded to the area of D’Arcy Street where the boarder had been spotted in the water.

The paddle boarder managed to make it to shore by the water treatment plant when her friends met up with her and helped her out of the water.

Emergency services said both paddle boarders were wearing life jackets.
