Belleville Police – Suspicious Car Fire, Throwing Rocks at Vehicles, Drug Arrests (Names Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 111 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on June 10, 2025 to 5:00 am on June 11, 2025.

Suspicious car fire
On June 11th at 1:45am, the Belleville Police Service received a report of a vehicle on fire in the area of University Avenue. Information provided to police at the time of the call indicated that the fire may have been intentionally set. The Belleville Fire Department attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
This incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the Belleville Police Forensic Identification Unit, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Belleville Police Criminal Investigation Division.

Woman arrested for throwing rocks at vehicles
On June 10th at 2:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the east end of the city. Callers advised that a female was throwing rocks at vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located and arrested a 25-year-old Belleville woman. During their investigation, it was revealed that the female was also on probations conditions which she was breaching. As a result, the woman was charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing.

Drug (Cocaine – Crystal Methamphetamine- Fentanyl – Firearm) Arrest

On the 10th of June, as a result of a drug trafficking investigation in the City of Belleville, members of Project Renewal executed a Controlled Drugs Substance Act warrant in Belleville’s east end with the assistance of the Belleville Police K9 and Emergency Response Unit.

Police Seized:
· 230.9 grams Cocaine
· 39.5 grams Fentanyl
· 21.4 grams Crystal Methamphetamine
· $3490.00 Canadian Currency
· Digital Scales
· A 40 calibre Glock handgun that had a high capacity magazine containing 15 rounds
· Two prohibited knives
· Collapsible baton
· 8 cell phones

As a result of the investigation, the following persons were charged:

23-year old Haley PODNIEWICZ of Belleville was charged with:

5. Fail to comply with Probation – Sec 733.1(1) CC
6. Unauthorized Possession of Weapon – Sec 91(2) CC
