Video – More Election Signs Damaged in Cobourg

In Local

More Liberal election signs were discovered damaged or destroyed in Cobourg on Friday, March 28, 2025.

It appears something similar to a box cutter was used to damage Liberal signs on King Street West, Burnham Street, Prince of Wales Drive and Westwood Drive.

One homeowner even repaired the damage sign with tape.

One Tuesday, signs were discovered damaged or destroyed on King Street East.

Conservative candidate Philip Lawrence stated, “we are allowed to disagree, but we don’t destroy personal property in the process.  It’s a shame to see this happening in our community.  I condemn any and all acts of political vandalism.”

Earlier this week, campaign manager for Liberal candidate John Goheen, Sandy Wiseman said, “there is no place in the democratic process for this type of wanton vandalism.  Signs are a great cost to every campaign including the time it takes volunteers to install them.  We have the ability to express our displeasure at the place it counts…the ballot box.

Cobourg Police are investigating.
