In Upcoming Events

Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation is excited to announce that tickets for the highly anticipated 6th Annual Handbags for Hospice event will go on sale on Monday, February 10th, 2025. The event will take place on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre, and tickets will be available for $100 each.

The evening promises to be a memorable celebration of fashion and fundraising in support of hospice care in Northumberland. With over 275 guests expected, attendees will have the opportunity to shop, sip, bid, and raise funds for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation. Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary drink and can explore an array of exquisite handbags, silent auction items, and exciting live auctions. Highlights of the evening include the thrilling Golden Ticket Draw, the new Tote Treasure Wall, Photobooths, Mystery Bags, Gift from the Heart, and more – all while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

The Foundation’s purpose is to raise funds to support the operation of Community Care Northumberland’s hospice service programs in our community including the Palliative Care Community Team, Volunteer Hospice Visiting program, and Grief and Bereavement support which operate alongside the 24/7 end-of-life care provided at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre. As you may know, Ed’s House has recently undergone a significant expansion, increasing our capacity from a 6-bed to a 10-bed hospice. This expansion allows us to extend our compassionate care to more individuals and families in need during one of the most challenging times in their lives. Through the generosity of our community, our suite of services is offered at no charge to clients and their families.

For this year’s event, the Handbags for Hospice Committee is excited to introduce a new website designed to simplify ticket purchasing, provide event details, and showcase sponsors. Tickets can be purchased at www.handbagsforhospice.ca.

“As we prepare for this year’s Handbags for Hospice, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped make this event possible,” said Trish Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland. “We hope that everyone will join us to support Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation. Your participation and support are essential to continuing our important work in the community.”

A sincere thank you goes out to the generous sponsors of the event, including Tony Pulla of Re/Max Lakeshore Realty Inc., our Signature Sponsor, and Jacqueline Pennington of Re/Max Hallmark, our Pearl Sponsor. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more details, contact Joel Scott at j.scott@commcare.ca or call 905-885-0466.
