Video – Strong Winds Along the Lakeshore

In Local, Photo Gallery, Weather

A windy day along the lakeshore in Cobourg on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Many people enjoyed both the water and wind along Victoria Beach and surrounding area in Cobourg.

Along with the beach being a popular attraction for dogs and visitors, so was the east pier with the waves pounding into the wall sending water shooting skyward.

The high winds whipped up the sand along Victoria Beach, but nobody seemed to mind.

Waves also helped a surfer off the shoreline.

Out on the lake, a massive ship made its way through the choppy water. A small fishing boat had a quick trip out of Cobourg harbour before turning around and heading back.

A “friendly neighbour” was nice enough to post a sign and place it on the ticket machine on Charles Street.

The ticket machine next to a parking lot designed for only local residents with passes has caused confusion for visitors coming to Cobourg, with many visitors getting a $160.00 ticket.

Traffic congestion along the lakeshore causes confusion for some drivers with at least one going the wrong way on a one-way street.
