Warrant/Assault Police Officer/Fail to Comply with Probation Arrest

A 45-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Monday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30pm on May 6, 2024, officers on regular bike patrol on the trail near McDonnel Street and Reid Street spotted a woman wanted on warrants for assault, failing to comply with appearance notice, and failing to attend court.  When the woman saw police, she started walking away in the creek, attempted to climb a retaining wall, and then got back in the creek before she was taken into custody by police.  While being walked to a nearby road, the suspect spat twice at one of the officers, then spat at the other while being placed in the police cruiser.

As a result, a 45-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Assault a peace officer X2
  • Fail to comply with probation

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 7, 2024.

Theft/Assault Arrest

An 18-year-old Oshawa man and a 47-year-old Scarborough woman are facing charges after incidents at a Peterborough business.

At approximately 4:00pm on May 6, 2024, officers were called to the Chemong Road business by the store’s loss prevention officer (LPO).  Upon arrival, officers learned that a male and a female had entered the store and that the male had been observed taking packages of cold prevention medication and putting them inside his jacket.  The items were located and returned to the store.  Further investigation revealed the man had been arrested for theft-related occurrences across the GTA over the past month.  In the meantime, the female left the store.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 7, 2024.

About two hours later, the Loss Prevention Officers called police again after the woman returned to the store looking for the male, became upset and spat on the security officer before leaving.  The woman was located by police in the area of Chemong Road and Towerhill Road and taken into custody.  It was further learned that the woman was wanted by another police service for theft under $5000 and is currently facing similar charges in other jurisdictions around the GTA.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Scarborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 7, 2024.
