Belleville Police Service – Police Respond to Barn Fire and Woman Trespassed from Library Grounds

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 59 calls for service between 5:00 am on February 26, 2024 to 5:00 am on February 27, 2024.

Bronk Road barn fire
An 88-year-old Belleville woman is in hospital following a barn fire on Bronk Road, Monday.

Police, fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene in Thurlow ward shortly before 5 p.m. and found a fully engulfed structure fire.

The woman was taken to Belleville hospital before being transported to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto for treatment of serious burns.

The roadway was shut down by police as Belleville firefighters battled the blaze.

At this point, no foul play is suspected at this point and an investigation into the cause is continuing involving the Belleville Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division.

Trespassed from library grounds
A 40-year-old woman causing issues at the Belleville library received a trespass notice, Monday.

Officers from the Community Resource Unit (CRU) attended the downtown location after police were called to report a disturbance on the property around 1 p.m.

The woman, of no-fixed-address, was given a trespass notice by officers and left without further incident.
