Update – Breaking News – Person Killed After Being Struck by Train

Members of the Cobourg Police Service are currently on scene conducting an active investigation in the area of the rail crossing at Burnham Street and Westwood Drive in Cobourg.

At about 2:00 p.m. today, police responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train in the area of the Burnham Street and Westwood Drive rail crossing. Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance, attended and one person was transported to hospital by EMS where they were pronounced deceased.

Police remain on scene investigating the circumstances of death with the Chief Coroner’s Office. There is no risk to public safety at this time. The rail crossing will remain closed until further notice. Please avoid the area. An update will be provided when the scene is cleared.
