Cobourg Public Library – Socks That Make a Difference: Join the Socktober Campaign and Warm Hearts and Feet!

In Community, Local

It’s a new year, but some missions never change. The Cobourg Public Library is excited to kick off its annual Socktober campaign with the same enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose!

Each year, during the month of October, they invite our community to participate in Socktober, a heartwarming initiative where you can make a difference one pair of new socks at a time. How, you ask? By dropping off a pair of fresh socks!

At the heart of this campaign is a simple yet powerful idea: warmth and comfort. Your sock donations may seem small, but they have the incredible power to warm not only feet but also hearts. The impact of something as basic as a pair of socks extends far beyond the material; it’s a symbol of care and compassion.

“What makes Socktober even more special is where these socks go. The Library distributes them to local organizations and Transition House, providing much-needed comfort and dignity to those in need within our community. Imagine the relief and smiles that a warm pair of socks can bring on a cold winter day!” — Tammy Robinson, CEO of the Cobourg Public Library

Whether you’re donating a single pair or organizing a sock drive with friends and family, every contribution counts. Let’s step into this year with kindness and generosity, knowing that our actions, no matter how small, can make a significant impact.

The Socktober campaign is a beautiful reminder that the power to make our community a better place lies in our hands. It’s not about the quantity of socks donated; it’s about the warmth and care we collectively share.

Drop-off locations can be found at the Cobourg Public Library at 200 Ontario Street, Alice D. Behan Bewdley Branch located inside the Bewdley Community Centre at 7060 Lake Street, Bewdley, and Gores Landing Branch located at the Gores Landing Hall at 5199 Burnham Street North, Gores Landing.
