Alnwick/Haldimand Township Firefighters Respond to Material Recovery Facility

Alnwick/Haldimand Township firefighters found a smoldering fire at the County of Northumberland Material Recovery Facility on Friday, June 2, 2023.

At approximately 11:37 p.m. firefighters responded to an automatic alarm at the facility located on Edwardson Road approximately two kilometres from the Grafton Firehall.

Arriving on scene, firefighters could smell smoke and the call was upgraded.

Donning breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the building and discovered the cause was a smoldering pile of debris burning and quickly extinguished it.

There was no damage.
