Cobourg Police – Toronto Man Charged With Fraud (No Name Released)

Police have charged a Toronto man with fraud after receiving a report that he used false identification at a local business.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, at 6:38 pm, police responded to a report of fraud in progress at a business in the north end of Cobourg. Staff contacted police to report a man currently inside the store attempting to use fraudulent identification.

As a result of police investigation, a 49-year-old Toronto man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Forgery contrary to section 366(1) of the Criminal Code

2. Use, deal, acts on forged documents contrary to section 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

3. Make false statement in writing – the making of a loan contrary to section 362(1)(c)(iii) of the Criminal Code

4. Fraud Under $5,000 contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking with a court date of December 28, 2022.
