Cobourg Police – Suspect Charged with Assault, Obstruct Police and Mischief (No Name Released)

A man has been charged with assault and obstructing police.

On Friday, August 19, 2022, at 12:20 p.m., police were called to the area of D’Arcy Street East and Elgin Street in the Town of Cobourg for a report of an assault.

A short time later, police observed a man matching the provided description in the downtown area. When informed that he was under arrest, the man fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the man was arrested safely. Upon arrest, police located a quantity of cocaine and crack cocaine.

As a result of the police investigation, the 41-year-old Ennismore man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code

2. Obstruct police contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

3. Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

4. Two counts of Possession of a Substance in Schedule 1 contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA

The man was released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled on September 20, 2022.
