Organizers and volunteers with the Northumberland Father-Daughter Butterfly Ball 2022 are delighted to announce that it raised an incredible $24,000 for the Maternal Child Care Program at Northumberland Hills Hospital.

Organizers Katie Traugott, Jenna Traugott and Reese Quantrill were delighted with the opportunity to bring this event and, in the announcement, said they were blown away by the generosity of the community – singling out sponsors Cameco, LiUNA Local 183, Tony Pulla, Trenholm Parker and Spoolon for special mention.

The July 7 event at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre saw fathers (and father figures) accompanied by daughters aged four to 10 in a formal affair with a butterfly theme that the girls took to heart, sporting butterfly hair clips, dresses and even colourful wings.

The Father-Daughter Ball began in 2015 as a third-party planned initiative in support of the NHH Foundation. This year’s edition was the first time it could be held in person since 2019, with a new group of volunteers taking over the planning and hosting.

“Reese, Katie and Jenna took the Father-Daughter Ball on with gusto,” Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham declared.

“They pulled together a special evening for many young families to create fun memories, while also raising critical funds to support NHH’s Maternal Child Care Program. We want to thank them for continuing the proud tradition created by past event organizers with this year’s Butterfly Ball.”

Proceeds from the event – ticket sales, a silent auction, raffle and other initiatives – will help fund the purchase of medical equipment for NHH. Previous Father-Daughter Balls have funded such items as birthing beds, a fetal monitor and a neonatal warmer.

Organizers have already begun planning the 2023 ball, and look forward to announcing the theme this winter.
