City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Fatal Collision Closes Highway 7

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are on scene investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 7, just east of Omemee, where the highway will remain closed for several hours.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on November 2, 2021, the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, EMS and Fire responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 7. Detours in place at Orange Corners Road and Emily Park Road. The collision involved a SUV and Sedan that collided head on.

As a result of the collision, Elsi e LEES, 78 years-of-age of Omemee, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing with the OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
