Cameco – Step Up for Mental Health Run Goes Virtual

In Community, Local, Upcoming Events

Registration now open
The Cameco Step Up for Mental Health fun run/walk is back and it is going virtual. Registration is now open at www.stepupsk.ca with early bird pricing of $50 until June 1, 2021. Every dollar of registration fees are matched 100 per cent by Cameco and all Ontario generated funds support mental health programs in Northumberland County through the Cameco Fund for Mental Health.

The virtual event will take place from October 1 to 6, 2021 and is being spearheaded out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where Cameco is headquartered. Participants are asked to run or walk in their own community. All registrants receive a Step-Up t-shirt, hoodie and a motivational mental health/running journal.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified mental health needs and we know that the impact is felt right here in Northumberland County,” said Dale Clark, vice-president of Cameco’s Fuel Services Division. “This is an opportunity for everyone in our community to get involved and make a difference for local mental health initiatives.”

The initiative first launched in 2019 and since then, over $110,000 has been raised for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health in Ontario. In total, the Fund has provided support to 15 organizations undertaking projects that promote or protect mental health in Northumberland County.

The Cameco Fund for Mental Health is established through the Saskatoon Community Foundation.

Applications for funding will be open in the fall of 2021 and funding will be adjudicated by a panel that includes local mental health professionals and representatives from Cameco.
