One woman was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non life threatening injuries after a wheel of a dump truck possibly ran over the woman in Colborne.

Shortly before 4 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 a witness said the woman was crossing the intersection of Orchard Road and Percry Street with her two children.

A four-year-old was riding a bicycle and the woman had a six month old in a pouch on her chest.

A dump truck going north turned left onto Orchard Road and struck the woman.

The witness said the mother did her best to protect her two children and as she was falling turned so the infant wouldn’t hit the pavement.

It appears the front wheel of the dump truck ran over the woman’s lower leg suffering a serious injury.

The four year old on the bicycle was not injured and the infant was also taken to hospital to be checked over.

Orchard Road is closed in the area of Purdy Road until members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators examine the scene.
