Peterborough County OPP – Trent Lakes Man Charged After 53 Firearms and Cocaine Seized (Name Released)

An individual has been arrested and faces multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) officers executed a warrant at a location in Trent Lakes where multiple firearms and suspected Cocaine were located.

In April of 2026, an investigation was initiated in relation to an individual suspected of being in possession of firearms that was known to be prohibited from possessing any. On April 8, 2026, members of the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU attended an address on Bessie Avenue in the Municipality of Trent Lakes and made contact with the accused who was immediately placed under arrest. The accused was searched incident to arrest, and Cocaine was located on the individual.

Officers entered the building to execute the warrant and located one firearm that had been stored in a careless manner. Officers furthered their search locating 52 other long rifles along with various assorted ammunition and a further quantity of Cocaine.

Upon completion of their search, officers had located and seized:
• 53 long rifles
• Various ammunition
• Ammunition reloader devices
• 278 grams of Cocaine
• Digital scales
• Cell phones
• Over $5,000 in Canadian currency

Joshua FAWCETT, age 39 of Trent Lakes, ON., was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order – three counts

• Careless storage of firearms, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

• Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
