The Town of Cobourg’s Community Services Division is encouraging residents to Love Local this Valentine’s Day with the launch of a radio contest through Northumberland 89.7 FM, and a social-media contest with a chance to win four local prize packages.

Funded through FedDev Ontario and the Regional Relief Recovery Fund, Experience Cobourg is giving away four Complete Valentine’s Day packages, two through the Experience Cobourg Facebook page and two to be given out through the Northumberland 89.7 FM Morning Show.

Valued at $300, each Complete Valentine’s Day package includes a $100 gift card to a local restaurant of the winner’s choosing, a $100 gift card to any local accommodation of the winner’s choosing (for a relaxing staycation at a later date), and a $100 gift card to any local retail business of the winner’s choosing. “Many of our local restaurants and businesses look forward to this time every year as couples, friends and family celebrate their love and friendship,” Coordinator of Arts, Culture and Tourism Councillor Adam Bureau said in the announcement.

“Although we are unable to dine in at our favourite local eateries or shop in-person at some retail stores due to the current public health restrictions, we want to help you celebrate your love while supporting our hardworking local businesses”. ‘Love Local’ Valentine’s Day Contest: Two Ways to Win! There are two ways to win a prize through the ‘Love Local’ Valentine’s Day Contest.

There’s the Grand Prize Contest – tune in to Northumberland 89.7 FM and listen for the contest questions related to romantic movies. Call the station at 905-372-2391, answer the question correctly and win one of the four Complete Valentine’s Day packages. There will be one chance to win on Tuesday, Feb. 9, and one chance to win on Wednesday, Feb. 10, during the Morning Show, which begins at 7 a.m.

Then there’s the Social Media Contest. Follow Experience Cobourg on Facebook to answer the contest questions on the posts. All participants who answer the trivia questions correctly on Facebook go into a draw to win – with one chance to win Tuesday, Feb. 9, and one to win Wednesday, Feb. 10.

The Town of Cobourg encourages everyone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the ones you love in your immediate household, and to support local by ordering take-out, shopping on-line or ordering curbside pick-up from a local restaurant or business.

“Together, we can Love Local and help reduce the spread of COVID-19,” the announcement said.

This opportunity has been made available thanks to FedDev Ontario and the Regional Relief Recovery Fund. To learn more about the contests, please visit www.experiencecobourg.ca.
