Cobourg Police – Several Charges Laid on Male After Arrest for Shoplift Incident

On the 29th of April, 2020, Police responded to a North end business for a shoplift in progress.

The male exited the retail store with stolen items in hand taking off in a vehicle. Police were unable to locate the male but though investigation identified the male and vehicle involved.

At a separated incident early morning Thursday, Police located the male who on arrest fled officers but was ultimately caught and arrested.

As a result of the investigation and arrest:
30-year-old Cody PUFFER, of Cobourg was charged with:
• Theft Section 344(b) of the Criminal Code x 3
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code x 3
• Possession of a Scheduled 1 Substance Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Assault with the Intent to Resist Arrest Section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
• Escape Lawful Custody Section 145(1) of the Criminal Code
• Disarm a Peace Officer Section 270.1(1) of the Criminal Code
• Failure to Comply with Release Order Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code x 2

PUFFER was subsequently held in custody for a Bail Hearing.
