The Castleton Sports Club Outdoor Skating Rink is in full operation while the weather co-operates.

On the evening of Thursday, January 30, 2020 a number of people were taking advantage of the cool weather for some shinny.

All ages of hockey players took part with the older ones helping out the younger players throughout the evening.

When the players wanted to relax, they could sit beside a warm fire beside the rink.

The Castleton Sports Club has been in operation for many years with a pump house being added approximately a decade ago.

Jeff Turney, Stacy King have spent most of their free time in the evenings trying to get the ice in perfect condition for the community. Bruce Bond has also been a big help this year.

Due to the warm weather, work on the rink/s didn’t get started until mid-January.

Currently there is only the main rink that is operations, but the men are working hard and hoping for the proper, colder conditions to create two rinks.

The Family Day Pond Hockey Tournament is scheduled for Monday, February 17, weather permitting.

The rink is located behind the Northumberland Hills Public School in Castleton.
