Northumberland OPP Collecting Donations To Assist Families In Need This Holiday Season

In Local

Christmas is just a few short weeks away. Starting Monday November 18, 2019 until Friday December 14, 2019 the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be accepting gift cards or any new and unwrapped toy donations from the public. Donations can be dropped off at one of our three sites located in Cobourg, Brighton and Campbellford.

On November 30, 2019, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm members of the Northumberland OPP Auxiliary unit will be at the Giant Tiger and the Canadian Tire stores in Campbellford to collect donations to assist with the toy drive. There will be a marked police cruiser at the location to “stuff” full of unwrapped toys. Cash donations and gift cards are also welcome and will be used to help purchase toys, and gifts for older children that tend to be more difficult to buy for.

All of the donations collected will be divided between the Northumberland Salvation Army, our local Women’s Shelter and Victim Services, to be distributed to local families experiencing difficult times or going through a crisis situation during this holiday season. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to Toronto Sick Kids in order to assist in making Christmas a special day for kids undergoing treatment and unable to travel home for the holidays.

By working together we can assist with providing families in need the ability to make this a joyous holiday season for all children.
